Tenants Union Testifies in Support of New 30/60 Day No Cause Eviction Notices
This morning in Olympia, Alouise of the Tenants Union of Washington joined with Greg Provenzano of Columbia Legal Services and other housing allies to testify in support of an important bill that would give tenants more time to deal with ‘no cause’ notices to terminate tenancy.
The bill, which is designated HB 2484: Require 30/60 Day No Cause Eviction Notices extends the notice period for landlords and tenants to terminate tenancy from 20 days to 30 days, and gives long-term tenants (those who have lived at their unit for 12 months or more) a full 60 days notice before they would be required to vacate.
The Tenants Union joins the following partners who also endorse this vital legislation: Associated Ministries (Tacoma), Building Changes (Seattle), Children’s Alliance, Disability Rights, Washington Friendship House, House of Charity (Spokane), Housing Hope (Everett), PANZA/Camp Quixote (Olympia), Seattle Displacement Coalition, Seattle King County Coalition on Homelessness,
SEIU 1199NW, Skagit County Coalition to End Homelessness, Tacoma Housing Authority, Washington Low Income Housing Alliance, Washington State Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Washington State Coalition for the Homeless
You can help too! The first step is to get this bill up for a vote.
