Urgent Action Required on Relocation Assistance Bill in State House
We need your calls to State Reps: tell them to vote YES on HSSB 5577, but to vote NO on any amendments which would restrict tenants’ rights.
Thanks to phone calls and other efforts by Tenants Union members, our Relocation Assistance Bill passed out of the State Senate Tuesday afternoon! The next step is a vote in the State House—very likely this week.
Please call your State Reps today or as soon as possible at 1-800-562-6000. (If you don’t know who your Legislators are, you can ask when you call this number.)
Sample message:
“I am calling to ask both of my Representatives to vote YES on House Senate Substitute Bill 5577, but to vote NO on any proposed amendments which would restrict tenants’ rights. This very important bill would provide relocation assistance to tenants who are forced to move due to their landlord’s neglect.”
If your elected official is a sponsor, please thank them for their leadership:
Saying thanks will encourage them to continue their support and will help us get more laws passed in the future.
When you call 1-800-562-6000, ask what district you are in. Then scan the list below to see if your district is listed. The district is in parentheses after the elected official’s name.
