May 4 & 5: GiveBIG or Give Small for Housing Justice!

GiveBIG is May 4 & 5! Donate to the Tenants Union to keep people safe and housed!

In the past year, the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed low-income renters to the brink of eviction many times and exacerbated a housing instability crisis that has been brewing for decades. Tenants are living in fear and anxiety, not knowing if they will be able to keep their housing or be driven to the street, overwhelmed with debt and late fees, especially as we approach the ending of the eviction moratorium in June. It has never been more clear that housing is a basic human right that must exist for every resident in Washington state, especially Black, Indigenous, people of color, undocumented, elders, children and youth, immigrants and refugees, and low income renters.

  • The Tenants Union (TU) continues to provide frontline support for Washington State renters facing housing crises and homelessness by assisting renters in understanding and utilizing the eviction moratorium, legal options, and key community resources to prevent homelessness, including rental assistance and legal aid.
  • We are also organizing to cancel rent and rent debt, and freeze evictions and rent increases to ensure that no one is evicted or saddled with unsustainable debt as a result of the pandemic.
  • And we celebrated historic legislative wins for tenant protections this legislative session, including passing statewide Just Cause Eviction Protections for tenants and becoming the first state to guarantee low-income renters to the right to an attorney if facing eviction!

Please make your gift today to support tenants facing housing crises and ensure all our neighbors are able to stay sheltered and emerge from the pandemic without insurmountable debt!
