Hello, my name is Candis Dover-Andrews. I am originally from Inkster, Michigan a small town right outside of Detroit, and I've been living in Seattle since the summer of 2015.
I have always been passionate about advocacy and I have been working in the mental health field since the late 1980s. I currently hold 13 Mental Health certifications, and I'm well versed in Trauma Informed Support and Language, Suicide Assessment Intervention and Treatment and Moral Recognition Therapy. I am a published Poet/Author who has marched alongside Africa town during civil unrest and have performed my poetry/spoken word at Rally's for Seattle organizations.
In December 2019, I became employed with Harborview Medical Center as a Peer Engagement Specialist, and in 2021 I started working with the Harborview Mental Health and Addictions Peer Bridging Program as a Counselor/Advocate, who offers a judgement/stigma free approach and additional support.
The Peer Bridging Program also supports inpatient/outpatient services and community outreach, primarily in the King county areas. I currently hold a seat on the Harborview Medical Center Peer-Led EDI caucus representing my union SEIU-925.
