The Seattle City Council will vote next week to strengthen zoning laws to create more affordable housing in South Lake Union, but current proposals only create units in the hundreds when the need is in the thousands. The proposal also leaves housing out of reach for low-income workers who make less than 45k a year, where many people can’t afford affordable housing. Act now to demand stronger affordable housing requirements!

RE: South Lake Union Rezone – Support More Affordable Units
Dear Seattle City Council,
Please support the strongest proposal that builds the most affordable units in South Lake Union, and make sure lower-income workers aren’t left out by allowing housing options for people at 60% and below Area Media Income.
I am greatly concerned by the rising rents in Seattle, and the city must use every tool at its disposal to build more affordable housing so workers can live in the communities where they work. This will ensure a more inclusive and diverse City, and is the right direction for Seattle.
Thank you,
