Support the Tenants Union!
Washington State tenants have won important legal protections, but these rights don't go far enough. Members help build the movement to protect and expand tenants rights and make the promise of safe, healthy, affordable housing a reality.
Statement from the ED on Spokane Hate Crime
This morning the Community Building was covered in virulently white supremacist, anti-Semitic, and anti-refugee fliers. This building in downtown Spokane that was targeted houses progressive organizations like the NAACP, Refugee Connections, and our Spokane office for the Tenants Union of Washington.
Our Spokane staff are women of color who have dedicated themselves to fighting for some of the most vulnerable members of society. As an organization we stand in solidarity with our staff and their neighbors in full condemnation of this hateful act. It is shameful that in this political climate that this is not an isolated incident, but a further eruption of the festering bias in our communities. We at the Tenants Union refuse to capitulate to fear, and each renew our commitment to build a more just and inclusive society starting with housing as a human right.
